Badim the Demon Child
((Hi all! Hope this is the right place to be in FFXIV, because I intent to make up for all my RP fails in previous games. Hope we can all get along ))
"You are ready prodigal child" said the old wizard, coughing a litle blood "Your lighting is more impressive than ever!"
Badim's art of calling lightening with a simple finger snap was unique amongst the Organization.
"Ready for what Master?" the child replied.
"To leave this forsaken dungeon and unleash your divine lightening on the beastman that threatens our kingdom" the Master rose up and started healing his wounds "Although I don't know witch hell is worse nowadays... the ravaging battlegrounds above or the eternal night of the underground"
"Will I be able to go out?" Badim jumped with excitement. Only once had he been allowed to go outside the immense dungeons of the Organization. As an underground training facility that created the most fearsome and loyal soldiers, knights, wizards and assassins of Ul'dah, it had to remain shroud in mystery, as for the child trained there wore no more than orphans pulled out of the streets. The orphans wore then shown the outside world one last time, to show them the reward for when their training was complete.
"Yes you will my boy, but be warned that you will only be able to return if you complete your mission.. alive"
Almost a week later, Badim was given a dark uniform, long black robes carved with red and golden runes, and lined up with some of his seniors. None of the kids whom he shared the dormitory wore there. He couldn't stop to wonder why he was the shortest of them all.. He was one of the taller of the dormitory.
"As from this day on, you will serve in the Ul'dah army as mercenaries. None of you will be let live unless your mission is complete. You will then return here. "Home". Until then, unless you want your tongue and fingers cut, none shall mention the Organization. Not even amongst yourselves."
The arrogant Master took two steps back and from his shadow came out the old Master that passed Badim in his final exam. Badim smiled to him, but received only a bitter look in return.
"Your overseer will be Atram. He will be there to check on thou and thou will obey her orders above all else."
A muscle mountain in the first line rose up and spoke loudly:
"Why should the litle fox lead us when there are much better choices in this crowd of weaklings?"
No one in the crowd moved a single eye. They simply ignored him. The young adult got even angrier after seeing such reaction from his comrades.. or no reaction at all.
"So tell me... Does thee think of Atram as a worthy overseer? Then..." the old Master paused for a moment, and then resumed in a sarcastic tone "does thee think of thyself as a better overseer?"
"You bet I do!" He shouted, rising his fist in Atram's direction. Suddenly, in a blink of an eye, his fist was.. gone! Badim only caught the arrogant Master adjusting his blade in the hilt, holding the boys hand on his left hand.
"AHHHHH" his scream was deafening. While he fell into his knees the old master approached him smiling.
"Oh dear, it seems thee is unable for battle now" he pointed his finger at the crying boy and a burst of flames came out of the ground. He died instantly "may this be an example to what it means to stand up to your leader. Thou shall only challenge thou leader if thou finds itself a better one, and are risking to sacrifice thouself for the good of the squad."
Badim now fully understood what just happened. Atram was by far the fastest he knew in the Organization. Her speed and agility wore unparalleled.
"Any other questions?" and before anyone could say a word, the old Master clapped his hands. A summoned staircase came out of the celling, driving everyones attention to it . A stair witch make Badim smile like never before. It leaded ... To the outside world!
Badim remembered nothing else from his past. After a small pause to rest his eyes, he continued to read the battle report of the final battle against the Beastman.
"A mercenary squad, fully dressed in black, was stationed at the front line today. They wore personally escorted by the High Commander, something we soldiers couldn't understand.
As the battle begun, we then saw why. The Beastman charged first, along a wave of what seamed to be war hounds. The few mercenaries, around 20 by my calculations, instead of joining the shield and lance formation with the army, charged like madmen to the Beastman.
We.. Just stood behind our shields, our eyes wide opened with surprise as the invading wave was annihilated without a single casualty. I couldn't believe my eyes! I can still fully remember a towering Roagadyn using one of the beastman has a blunt weapon, a duo of a Miqo'te and a Hyur female running at an impossible speed, cutting every throat in their path. And there was this boy, a demon child, who just stood there. At first I couldn't understand what he was doing, but then he snapped his fingers and a lighting bolt came out of the sky, burning a war hound to his death. Then, he slowly walked into where the others wore fighting frying every living creature in his path.
After the massacre, the army, with renewed morale, charged to their mercenary champions. The battle would be ours!
And then the unthinkable happened. A catapult shot. A single catapult shot. A flaming ball of iron came out of nowhere and fell right into the mercenaries. Only a few wore hit, but quickly stood up. As the mercenary team regrouped around their injured teammates, the stone that was fired by the catapult... Exploded. It was a trap.. The violent explosion incinerated everything around it. Only the agile Miqo'te and the demon boy managed to escape certain death, they wore instead sent flying yards away because they wore still walking towards their companions when the bomb exploded.
The soldiers burst in rage seeing what happened to their battlefield heroes and rushed to the Beatman..."
Badim threw away the battle report. He had the information he needed. He then proceeded to what seemed to be a lab journal.
" -The Demon Boy was found unconscious in the filed of battle and retrieved.
-A week as passed and he has yet to regain conscience.
-After two days he woke up. He doesn't seem to remember his own name.
-Today we shown him some of his dormitory mates. No reaction.
-Some of his trainers came in today. Same thing has yesterday.
-Maybe the memory loss can be useful. Tomorrow we will test him in the pit.
-Total failure. The Demon Child can't use his powers. Almost got killed by simple beasts.
-It has passed another week. The Project Demon Child was abandoned. Total failure in trying to regain his memories. The Child has been dropped blindfolded in the streets of Ul'dah. He's a 9 year old, he'll peddle and survive."
Badim now fully understood what happened.. Almost eleven years had passed since then. He was forced to beg for food and steel in the streets. Harbored by a group of thieves at the age of twelve, he had gained their favor has a little mastermind and strategist. He would study maps and plan the escape routes for the thieves.
"Ignorant fools" Badim tough to himself, watching has the last of them choke on his own blood, courtesy of a poison he bought with a few gil " at least you wore kind to finds these reports for me. It seems that my time with you was not been a waste after all "
Badim left the building into the streets of Ul'dah. There was still one hope to find the Organization and regain his lost demonic thunder. The other survivor was without a doubt Atram, and according to his intel, she had deserted the organization.
After years of studying the thieves fighting style, Badim grabbed a staff and a sword. It was the first time he had ever wielded a sword. If he could not find how to retrieve his lost powers, he had just to begin anew. If his nine year old self had mastered the schools of magic, so could he!
